Strong police force essential to national security
Building a clean and strong police force to fullfill assigned tasks under the current situation was the theme of a seminar, organised by the Ministry of Public Security and Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper in Hanoi on July 10.
Politburo members: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang; Party Central Committee members: Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Thuan Huu, and Deputy Ministers of Public Security: Pham Quy Ngo and To Lam attended the event.

In his opening speech, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Thuan Huu stressed that over nearly 70 years of development, the people’s police force has overcome numerous difficulties with firm political resolve and shown its absolute loyalty in serving the Party, State and people. The Vietnamese people’s police force has also greatly continued its glorious tradition. The seminar was also held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the force’s traditional day (July 20, 1962-2012).
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc commended the efforts and work done by the police force to ensure national construction and defence. However, he also alerted that the security force will bear a heavier burden as the country has integrated more deeply into the global economy, and as hostile forces have continued to utilize all means possible to thwart progress.
Deputy PM Phuc also suggested that the police force continue to study and promote implementation of the Party and State’s guidelines on fighting crime, ensuring political security and social order as well as improving staff skills to meet the requirements of today.
26 speeches by researchers and representatives from the Ministry of Public Security and Nhan Dan Newspaper focused on analysing the situation and establishing measures to help the police force overcome difficulties and shortcomings in order to continue building a clean and effective security force.
Representatives from the Ministry of Public Security expressed their determination to improve and set up new operation projects, in order to enhance their crime-fighting ability and maintain social security and order, to earn the trust of the Party, State and people.
